About Us

Originally purpose-built as a pub circa 1900, the Cyder House has undergone several changes over the years but remains at the heart of the village. The Cyder House is a beautiful country pub serving delicious home-cooked food made to order. We are family and dog-friendly – we even have a dog station to keep your precious pup happy!

All dogs big and small are welcome at the Cyder House. We have lots of treats, blankets, water bowls and even poo bags to accommodate our four-legged friends.

We have a fantastic children’s menu to suit all tastes. If the weather is nice why not grab a drink and head over to the village playground attached to our beer garden and let them have a run around?

GET TO KNOW THE AREA

A stone’s throw from the River Wey and the Hogs Back, the Cyder House is an ideal place for walkers and cyclists to start, finish or stop off

for some well-deserved refreshments.

The village of Shackleford is surrounded by woodland, meadows and glorious views in the Surrey Hills to the south of Guildford – an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Shackleford is an ancient settlement, and it was known in the 14th century as an established village and many medieval houses in the area survive to this day. The village includes St. Mary’s Church, built in 1865, and designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and Aldro School, which sits in the grounds of the former Hall Place, across the road from the Cyder House Inn.

The Cyder House Inn is ideally placed on many popular walking routes and is near some great footpaths. So, we’ve created some walking routes of our own for you to try, and with routes from 2 miles to 5 miles there’s a walk for everyone to see a bit more of the village and surrounding area.

2 Mile Walk

A relaxing, gently undulating stroll around the village taking in Rokers Lane and Shackleford Heath. Enjoyable in all seasons.

3 Mile Walk

An undulating walk along the paths, tracks and lanes around Shackleford. It’s a rewarding ramble that can be enjoyed at any time of year.

5 Mile Walk

A good and scenic ramble to the picturesque Cut Mill and back. Wooded paths, nice views and lots of nature to enjoy before returning to the Cyder House Inn.
